Weed... or Art?

This is my mama's kitchen windowsill. I don't particularly like to eat tomatoes... but I sure do like to take pictures of them. :)

I love these. I did a series of shots like this. They definitely do not look like weeds to me!

I was trying out some different things here. I'm trying to get the whole clear/fuzzy thing down. I'm kinda understanding it, but I still need a lot more practice. But, for a beginner... I'm pretty happy with it!

Stop and Smell the Flowers

All of these flowers are in my parents yard. I love photographing flowers, the details and color amaze me. Flowers are a great way to practice lots of techniques.

This one is my favorite! Love the details. I just love sunflowers in general.

Adventures at Pullen Park

Hi Everyone! Hope you had a great day today! I was off work at 3:00 today, so that made my day much better! Went out tonight with my grandparents, Cathy and cousin to Frankie's Fun Park and had a great time! I forgot to take my camera though :(

All of the photos today were taken at Pullen Park in Raleigh, NC. The first is a cherry blossom... I'm trying some different techniques.

I had to lay down on the tracks for this one. Don't worry, I made Matt lay down too. I really like the perspective on this one.

I would call this one... "Solitude". I think it looks lonely, but the colors are very welcoming. This would be a really cool shot if there was an older man sitting on the bench reading the paper with a dog at his side... and in black and white. I think I could set up some pretty cool staged shots.

Thanks for looking! Have a great day!

A Few of my Favorites

These are some pictures that I've taken of various places and things over the past year or so. The first is of Yates Mill in Raleigh, NC.

This picture is from an old abandoned house on the Dorothea Dix campus in Raleigh, NC.

This final picture is from old downtown Wake Forest, NC

Hope you all had a great weekend! Thanks for looking!

Picture This...

"...A great photograph is one that fully expresses what one feels, in the deepest sense, about what is being photographed, and is, thereby, a true manifestation of what one feels about life in it's entirety. . . I believe in photography as one means of achieving an ultimate happiness and faith." - Ansel Adams

Ansel Adams is one of my favorite photographers because the above statement is exactly what he believed. The way we look at a photograph is the way we look at life. A tree can be just a tree... or a tree can be one of the most beautiful pieces of art that God provided to us... It's all in your perception.

I have decided to try out this whole blogging fad as I continue to learn about photography and all that it encompasses. I want to use this as a means to get a better understanding on my photographs and photography in general. My goal is to add at least one picture a day so that you can take a look and so that I have somewhere to post them that isn't Facebook. I would love to get your opinions, feedback, criticism, all of it.

So let me know what you think and thanks for reading!
